gothenburg

Established in 1946 and having gone from strength to strength to become Leicestershire’s largest independent flooring retailer, we like to think that we know a thing or two about ‘quality flooring’.

In our latest guide to Quality Flooring we will be looking more in-depth at the environmentally friendly nature of our products and also ways in which you can keep your wood flooring fresh and healthy!

Doing our bit for the environment!

Having worked at the heart of the flooring industry since 1946, we have seen the issue of the environment progress to the forefront of conversation within the flooring world and in the wider public sphere. As Leicestershire’s largest independent flooring retailer we have always been keen to stress our commitment to the environment, which is why we provide accurate environmental information on all our products.

The wood flooring available at Michael John Flooring comes from a selection of the most well respected international flooring brands, including; Kährs and Ted Todd. The brands themselves have recognised the importance of providing environmentally friendly products to their customers and now a large selection of the quality wood flooring options are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. The F.S.C. promotes responsible management of the world’s forests to meet the social, ecological & economic rights of the present generation without compromising those of future generations.

At Michael John Flooring we recognise the importance of effectively managing the world’s forests and the percentage of our products that are FSC Certified is ever increasing. If you require any information on the environmental standards on of our any wood flooring, our expert and friendly staff will be more than happy to advise.

Looking after your Wood Flooring!

Even though the wood flooring options available at Michael John Flooring are of the highest quality, wear and tear can still be an issue. Check out our helpful tips for simple and effective ways to keep your wood flooring in the best condition possible!

1. Dry cleaning: Floors should be cleaned using a vacuum, scissor mop or soft bristled broom.  It is important to remove any abrasive particles of grit and dirt which may scratch the floor seal when trafficked under footwear, chair legs, and other items moved across the floor.

2. Damp cleaning: Soluble dirt should be removed by cleaning using a spray-buff system or scrubber drier (large floor areas) or by mop and bucket (Smaller, domestic areas).

  1. Additional cleaning: Wooden floors in commercial areas which may often become contaminated with grease from food, sweat, or residue from other sources may require additional, more intense, cleaning.
  2. Further protection: Periodically it is advisable to use a polish or similar product on the floors surface finish.  This will help to fill in any small scratches to the seal, which act to make the floor look dull or lusterless.

At Michael John Flooring, we also stock a selection of specialised floor maintenance products. Visit us at our luxury showroom for more information.
